While the mums were preparing to set off, supporters were treated to a flypast by an Avro Anson aeroplane. They plan to walk between 14 to 17.5 miles each day over 17 days and today's trek takes them from Madeley through Madeley Heath, Baldwins Gate, Hill Chorlton and Swynnerton, finishing at Aston Marina, near Stone. Seb was studying maths, psychology and biology at Newcastle College when he took his own life aged just 17 in 2021 after struggling with the isolation of Covid lockdowns and the loss of his beloved nan. The trio - Liz Hurlstone, from Madeley Kim McCarthy, from Northamptonshire and Michelle Dore, from Kent - were waved off from the Offley Arms by friends, family and youngsters from Madeley High School, where Liz's son Seb had been a pupil. Each of them has suffered the tragedy of a son taking his own life in the last three years. A huge crowd of supporters gathered in Madeley today to cheer on three bereaved mums as they set off on a 265-mile walk in a bid to raise awareness of suicide prevention.
